About Andrés
Andrés Tejeda is a seasoned journalist and broadcaster with a passion for storytelling that began in high school. A graduate of the University of St. Thomas - Minnesota, Andrés holds a degree in Journalism and TV Broadcasting, where he honed his skills in various facets of media production.
His journalism journey started in 2012 during the Chicago Teacher's Union strike, where he created a widely-followed social media page that kept over 10,000 followers informed with real-time updates. Since then, Andrés has pursued his passion for journalism and broadcasting through various academic and professional experiences.
After graduating from the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences in 2015, Andrés attended Harold Washington College before transferring to Loyola University Chicago. There, he explored a potential vocation to the priesthood while maintaining his interest in media by creating DailyRomanCatholic, a social media page dedicated to Catholic news.
In 2019, Andrés transferred to the University of St. Thomas - Minnesota, where he actively contributed as a student journalist for TommieMedia.com and worked with the Tommie Sports Network as a broadcaster, producer, and camera operator. His dedication led to opportunities with the Minnesota Twins Radio Network as a Production Assistant and the California Winter League in Palm Springs as a broadcaster and reporter.
Following his experience at the CWL, Andrés joined the Frontier League as a Digital Marketing Assistant and beat reporter, covering games and working closely with broadcast teams across the league. His first full-time broadcasting role came as the Play-by-Play Broadcaster for Colby Eagles Athletics in Colby, KS, where he called games on KRDQ 100.3 The Ride and served as the PA Announcer at the local community college.
In the fall of 2023, Andrés continued to expand his broadcasting repertoire by working with the University of Illinois Chicago's (UIC) broadcast team, calling select games on ESPN+. He also became a PA Announcer for the Chicago Public League during this time. He joined the broadcast team for the Rockford IceHogs, the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, collaborating with lead broadcaster Mike Folta.
Andrés returned to the Clinton LumberKings for his second season as their Play-by-Play voice in the summer of 2024, bringing his extensive experience and dynamic storytelling back to the collegiate wood-bat league.
