Andrés Tejeda's story starts on the streets of downtown Chicago, not in a broadcast booth. In 2012, during the Chicago Teachers' Union strike, a teenage Andrés built a real-time social media page that kept over 10,000 followers informed as events unfolded — his first taste of what it felt like to tell a story as it happened, and the moment the pull toward journalism became impossible to ignore.

That pull didn't move in a straight line. After graduating from the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences in 2015, studying Horticulture no less, Andrés enrolled at Harold Washington College before transferring to Loyola University Chicago, where he spent time discerning a potential vocation to the priesthood. Even there, storytelling found him — he launched DailyRomanCatholic, a social media page covering his and other seminarians' stories, proof that the instinct to chase and share a story never really left, whatever direction his path was taking.

In 2019, Andrés transferred to the University of St. Thomas – Minnesota to study Journalism and TV Broadcasting, and the pieces started coming together fast. He wrote for TommieMedia.com, worked in broadcast, production, and camera roles with the Tommie Sports Network at the D-III and D-I levels, and parlayed that experience into a Production Assistant role with the Minnesota Twins Radio Network and a broadcasting and reporting stint with the California Winter League in Palm Springs. From there, he joined the Frontier League as a Digital Marketing Assistant and beat reporter before landing his first full-time broadcasting job: Play-by-Play Broadcaster for Colby Eagles Athletics in Colby, KS, calling games on KRDQ 100.3 The Ride and announcing for the local community college.

The road eventually led back home. In 2023, Andrés picked up play-by-play duties with the University of Illinois Chicago's broadcast team on ESPN+ and became a PA announcer for the Chicago Public League — both roles he still holds today. That same stretch, he joined the Rockford IceHogs broadcast team, working alongside lead broadcaster Mike Folta, now the radio voice of the NHL's Utah Mammoth. And in Clinton, Iowa, he found a home as the Play-by-Play voice of the LumberKings, a post he held for three seasons before wrapping up his tenure there in 2025.

Then the story went global. Andrés signed with the Australian Baseball League as the exclusive play-by-play broadcaster for all Brisbane Bandits home games — the "Voice of the Bandits" — calling every home game internationally on Baseball+ Worldwide and DAZN Japan for audiences across Japan and Taiwan, while producing a weekly video series, interviews, recaps, and press releases for the league. It was proof that the kid with a laptop covering a strike in Chicago could hold a mic on the other side of the world.

Today, Andrés is back on home turf, having taken on the role of Public Address Announcer for Chicago Fire FC II at SeatGeek Stadium starting in May 2026, alongside his continued work with UIC Athletics and the Chicago Public League. From the South Side to Brisbane and back again, the throughline hasn't changed: wherever the game is, Andrés Tejeda is chasing the story — hometown to his core, proven on an international stage, and versatile enough to do it all with a mic, a pen, or a camera in hand.
