Bandits Split Doubleheader in Two Nailbiters

ADELAIDE, Australia – The Bandits kicked off the doubleheader in style, grinding out a hard-fought win at Dicolor Australia Stadium.

Robbie Perkins set the tone early, launching a no-doubt solo homer in the second inning—his second of the season—and finishing with five total bases and two RBI to drive the offence. Liam MacDonald kept his hot streak rolling with his third double of the year, while Max Durrington added an RBI sac fly and continued to be a reliable spark in the lineup.

Brisbane created plenty of pressure all afternoon, loading the bases several times and grinding out quality plate appearances despite going 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. The team’s patience paid off as they pushed across enough runs to secure the opener.

On the bump, Jon Kennedy was rock-solid, working 4.2 innings with 11 groundouts and navigating early traffic with composure. The bullpen duo of Hayate Nakagawa and Tyler Jeans slammed the door, combining for clean, efficient relief to lock down the victory.

Defensively, the Bandits turned a crisp Callil–Riley–Wingrove double play, while Dermot Fritsch added energy on the bases with his first stolen bag of the season.

A strong team win to open the day—and momentum carried into Game 2.

In the nightcap of the doubleheader, the Bandits battled hard but couldn’t repeat their Game 1 success, falling short in a tight contest at Dicolor Australia Stadium.

Fritsch continued his standout day at the plate, ripping a double—his third of the season—and driving in Brisbane’s lone run with a clutch two-out RBI. He finished with four total bases to lead the offence. Durrington and George Callil also added knocks, while Rixon Wingrove swiped his third bag of the season.

Despite several late opportunities, Brisbane went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position and stranded 7 runners, unable to find the big hit to swing the momentum.

On the mound, Kamdyn Perry gave the Bandits 4.1 competitive innings before handing things over to Herbold and Lee. The bullpen was tasked with escaping traffic all night, with inherited runners proving costly.

Defensively, Brisbane flashed the leather with two double plays—one turned by Fritsch and Kyosuke Mashiko, and another smooth Perry–Riley–Mashiko combo. However, a passed ball and a couple of tough breaks helped Adelaide extend the gap late.

After splitting the doubleheader, the Bandits will look to regroup and bounce back in tomorrow’s action.
