CLINTON, Iowa - The Clinton LumberKings (16-9) defeated the Jackson Rockabillys (9-17) 7-3 at NelsonCorp Field on Friday night.
The LumberKings got things started in the first with a four run inning on a Gavin Brzozowski RBI single and a Connor Giusti two RBI single, followed by a RBI groundout by Alex Diaz to take a 4-0 lead.
The Jackson Rockabillys scored in the top of the third on a two RBI double by Nicho Jordan to cut the lead in half 4-2.
Dylan DeButy would score in the bottom of the fifth inning on a wild pitch and Paul Schuyler III would hit an RBI single to expand the lead 6-2.
Clinton would score once more in the bottom of the sixth on a Diaz RBI single to finalize the scoring for the LumberKings, 7-2.
Jackson would enter the ninth inning with just one hit all game and managed to collect two more hits. One of those hits would be on a Carter Vrabel RBI single to end the scoring at 7-3.
Jackson's starter, Danton Rinehart, would take his second loss of the season after throwing four innings where he would allow four hits, four runs, all earned, walk seven batters and strike out four. Thomas Greeson would come in relief to pitch the rest of the game allowing four hits, three runs, two earned, four walks, and four stakeouts in four innings.
Clinton's starter, Sam Lavin, earned his second win of the season allowing just one hit, two runs, both earned, three walks, and a season high of eight strikeouts.
The Clinton LumberKings welcome the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp tomorrow for the final game of the homestand. First pitch at 6:30 p.m. NelsonCorp's gates open at 5:30 p.m.
